What should be avoided after hair transplantation?
- Smoking and alcohol: Avoid smoking and alcohol as much as possible for 7 days after the operation. Alcohol has a blood thinning effect. Smoking interferes with the flow of oxygen. Both affect the healing process negatively.
- Blood thinners : Aspirin etc. blood thinners can cause bleeding as the hair follicles have not healed yet. Therefore, do not use blood thinners in the first week after the operation.
- Sauna, Turkish bath: Steamy and hot environments such as baths and saunas are not recommended for 3 months after the operation.
- Sunbathing or exposure to sunlight: Do not sunbathe for 3 months after the procedure. In addition to sunbathing, you should also avoid sun exposure in your daily life. You can use a wide and clean hat that does not pinch your head.
- Solarium: Do not enter the solarium for 3 months after the procedure.
- Swimming: Swimming is not recommended for the first month.
- Sports: Avoid heavy sports for the first month. (Especially weight lifting etc. sports)
- Physical Activity: You can do light physical activities. You can take short and light walks. The point to be noted here is that you do not sweat too much during the activity.
- Sexual intercourse: Sexual intercourse is not recommended for 14 days after the procedure.
- Hand contact with hair: Avoid touching the scalp with hands to check the condition of your hair. Contact with hair can cause infection in the roots. Therefore, only touch your hair during washing.
Medicines and Products to be Used After Hair Transplantation
There are drugs that should be used in the first week after the hair transplant operation and products that should be used in the washing process during the first 2 weeks.
Medicines
Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics and pain relievers to prevent infections. Be sure to use the medicines prescribed by your doctor regularly and according to the instructions.
Cosmetics
The special lotion and shampoo you need to use for washing your hair for the first 14 days will be given to you by our clinic. Use these products as recommended by your doctor. Headband
Headband is used as a precaution against swelling in the head area. After the first wash in our clinic after the procedure, a headband will be worn. You have to wear the headband for 2 days.
- Do not sleep with a headband.
- Take care to keep the headband clean.
- While putting on and taking off the headband, expand it with your hand and prevent it from rubbing on the transplanted area.
Hat Usage
After the operation, you should use a hat to protect your head against weather conditions and environmental factors (sun, rain, wind, dust, etc.).
- Do not wear a hat when weather permits and indoors.
- Start wearing a hat 5 days after the procedure.
- The hat you will use should be wide and not constrict your head.
- While putting on and taking off the hat, it should not rub against your hair roots.
- Make sure the hat you are going to use is clean.
Other Considerations After Hair Transplantation
- Take care to rest your body for the first few days.
- Use your medications regularly.
- Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions.
- Avoid touching the transplanted area with hands.
- Protect your head from impact.
- Increase your fluid consumption. Make sure to drink 2 liters of water a day.
- While lying down, the transplanted area should not rub against the pillow. So lie on your back. There is nothing wrong with your neck touching the pillow.
- Choose clothes with buttons or a wide neckline.
- Make sure you follow the hair washing guidelines.
- For the first 1 month, stay away from hairdressing services such as hair dyeing, styling, blow-drying.
1 Month After Hair Transplant
- You can wash your hair with your own shampoo and normally. However, we recommend that you continue to use special shampoos.
- We recommend that you cut your hair in a model suitable for the transplanted style.
- The transplanted hair will start to grow and grow after 15-20 days. The first hairs will be weak. In the future, the newly grown hair will have the same form as your natural hair.
- Shock shedding will occur after the first month is completed or in the second month. This is a natural part of the process.
Possible Situations Encountered After Hair Transplant Operation
- Pain: You may experience mild pain for the first few days. Use the pain medication prescribed by your doctor.
- Swelling: Edema and swelling are expected after the procedure. It can take 2 to 5 days. Use the medicines recommended by your doctor. The headband to be worn after the first wash in the clinic will also prevent swelling in the forehead area to a great extent.
- Redness: Redness is also a normal condition encountered after hair transplantation. It usually disappears gradually within 1 week to 4 weeks. In fair-skinned people, it may take up to 2 months for the redness to go away.
- Itching: One of the most common conditions after hair transplantation is itching. Itching can occur on the entire scalp. Timely and regular maintenance will also reduce itching over time.
